Planners expect learners to:
1. Utilize the AAP Clinical Practice Guideline for Screening and Management of High Blood Pressure in Children and Adolescents (2017) to define hypertension and acknowledge the value of 24-hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring.
2. Apply evidence-based strategies to risk stratify pediatric patients with elevated blood pressure and initiate an appropriate hypertension evaluation in the primary care setting.
3. Identify when referral to subspecialty care is indicated vs. when anti-hypertensive treatment initiation may be considered in the primary care setting.
