How to Apply

ERAS Application

All applications to the Pediatric Residency Program at Children's are processed through the Electronic Resident Application System (ERAS).

Applicants register with ERAS through their medical schools, complete the ERAS application, and choose to send an application to "Children's Hospital Oakland".

All applications are reviewed holistically and there is no cut-off for testing or rotation scores.

Applications are considered complete when they include three letters of recommendation and a Dean's Letter in addition to all parts of the standard ERAS application.

Applicant Review and Interview

Once ERAS opens, completed applications are reviewed holistically and applicants are informed electronically if they are being invited to interview.

Interviews are held virtually from late October to early January with breaks over the holidays.

In February, applicants enter their rank list, and our Intern Selection Committee meets to rank applicants.

In March, applicants and programs are informed of the Match results by the NRMP.

Transfer Applicants

If you're interested in transferring to our program, we periodically have open second and third-year positions. These openings are generally for the beginning of the academic year, but they occasionally occur at other times. Applicants must be in good standing at their previous program.
