Letter from the Program Directors
Thank you for your interest in the Pediatric Residency Program at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland. Our program celebrates 100 years in 2026 and we have trained many pediatricians who have become leaders in many fields, advancing health equity and advocating for children and families.
We hope these web pages provide you with up-to-date information about our residency program, give you some insight into how our residents thrive during the challenges of residency, and are very well prepared for the whole spectrum of career paths in pediatrics.
There is a special quality about this hospital that comes from our commitment to provide outstanding and compassionate care to all patients guided by principles of cultural humility and respect. The combination of being a hospital that serves a medically and economically disadvantaged population, major referral center and level 1 trauma center provides a rich educational atmosphere. Since residents do almost all of their rotations on our campus, they quickly become part of our close-knit community full of team spirit and we celebrate the diversity of our backgrounds and experiences.
We have a strong commitment to foster a diverse and inclusive residency community.
We welcome your application to UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland and look forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,
